For more than two decades that was the real job, whatever the title said. I ran multi-million-pound global accounts, led delivery teams across time zones, and sat across the table from board-level executives at some of the world's largest companies. The figures were big. The real work was listening beyond the official explanation, following the money across organisational boundaries and holding trust where the stakes were highest.

The same pattern repeated in every organisation. Capable people held different pieces of the same answer, with no route to the decision-maker. Expensive dysfunction had been normalised because it was distributed. I built the operating systems that made the truth visible and usable: partnership and client excellence programmes, governance that turned messy high-value relationships into something measurable, and an early-warning system in a large pharmaceutical portfolio that protected approximately £15 million in its first year and continued after I left.

Then I made a deliberate decision: go deep on AI, not as an observer but as a builder. I have designed, built and shipped AI platforms of my own, including raretrial.org, Royal Author and AreaIQ, so when I say the fix can be made to work, that is not a slide. It is a capability I can prove. I hold a PhD in Chemistry and an Executive MBA, which means I can move between the technical detail a system demands and the commercial consequence a board must act on.
